Ok, this was too funny of an incident. The intersection I was at has 2 lanes of traffic on each side. When you are heading south, the lanes merge to the left. The merge happens about 200 feet south of the intersection. There are left turn lanes, standard, nothing fancy. So hopefully I painted the picture of this intersection.
So I am the first car approaching the light in the left lane. Cars line up in the left lane, those turning left, in the left turn lane, those going right, in the far right lane to make their right turn.
Along came the driver of his Blue Ford X2 or Contour or something small to my right, inching up across the white lane/crosswalk. He is the only car there, so maybe he will be going across the intersection and making a right to the 7-11 there.
I am in my dirty Ford Explorer NBX (its for sale if anyone is interested ;) ) simply waiting for the light to turn green. It is the usual pattern, all lights are red, then the green arrows for those turning left goes on. The driver in the Blue Ford inches up some more...which gives me clear shot of his license plate (X14 2137(IL)). I look over and see the arrow goes yellow as one last car makes his sprint to make his left turn. The light goes green. I proceed and the car ahead makes his left turn in front of us. I sort of knew this would happen so of course I slowed up. Well, as soon as the car was clear, I proceeded to head south, cars behind me at the usual distance. In the other lane, when the light had gone green, the driver in the Blue car accelerates off the line only to hit his brakes as the car, which made the left turn for me, is now in his path. As I am just about to the single lane, the driver in the Blue car had attempted to speed ahead in the right lane and make a pass, only to simply get behind me and cut off the Jeep behind me. No big deal. Just wondering why he thought he could pass with parked cars ahead of him in the right lane. Obviously visually impaired or something.
Now the fun part. Doing the speed limit, this not-so-smart driver of the Blue Ford is on the bigger Ford Explorer's bumper...my bumper. Looking in the rear view, I see him flipping me off and I thought, this idiot is mad at me because someone else cut him off and he had to get behind me??? I was laughing and waved to him as he passed on the right...in which must of pissed him off more as he flipped me off.
I hope I see him again. I will have to hand him an "Idiot Award" or something.
